Select a day row in Time Management, then click Add slot or Edit slot. Below is a walkthrough in control order.
How do I set when my child may use the PC?
Add a slot with a start and end time and tick the slot modes: the PC locks automatically when the slot ends or the quota runs out. Each parameter is explained below.
Day type
Decides which kind of day this slot applies to: regular, public holiday or make-up workday. Only slots matching today's type run — this is what lets vacations have their own schedule.
Start & end time
Format is HH:MM and the window shows the total duration. For slots crossing midnight, split them into two (e.g. 22:00–23:59 and 00:00–01:00).
Full access, limited minutes or points & quiz — which one?
Full access has no counting; limited minutes locks after N cumulative minutes; Points & Quiz (merged from "time points" and "quiz earning" since 2026-09-29) spends points earned by studying first, then switches to fullscreen questions once points run out, and returns to spending points afterwards. Full access is mutually exclusive with the other two; limited minutes and Points & Quiz are two independent checkboxes that can be ticked together. Compare behaviour and use cases in the table.
Slot modes: three control methods
| Slot mode | Behaviour | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Full access | Fully allowed within the slot; no counting, no limit | Online classes, research, parent-supervised use |
| Limited minutes | Cumulative N minutes within the slot; locks when used up | Everyday quota for games, video and entertainment |
| Points & Quiz (recommended) | Spend points for usage time first; when points run out the quiz goes fullscreen-exclusive, then points are spent again afterwards | Families who want study before play; the parent sets the grade |
What happens on the child's PC when Points & Quiz is checked?
The behaviour is fixed to "spend points first, answer questions when they run out, fullscreen exclusive while answering": with points available the child uses the PC normally while points tick down per second (1 point = 60 seconds); when points run out the quiz enters fullscreen-exclusive mode (exit needs the parent password); after finishing, the completion mark lets the child keep redeeming points; while exclusively locked, any remaining points can be redeemed at any time. The former quiz window mode dropdown and answer-count unlock switch were retired with this merge.
How do I restrict which software runs during a slot?
Click Bind apps in the Edit Slot window to open a separate sub-window and tick the app groups that should apply to this slot. This is the per-slot refinement layer, combined with the global controls on the App Management page — see below.
Bind apps: per-slot refinement
- Only checked groups apply: restrict this slot to specific groups, e.g. “study only” or “no games”.
- Two layers: global controls on the App Management page set the baseline, per-slot binding refines it; both apply together.
- Exclusive for selected study groups: everything outside study apps and the system allowlist is closed — see Study Exclusive mode.
A copy-ready example
- Workday 18:00–20:00, limited to 60 minutes: the after-school quota.
- Workday 20:00–21:30, full access + study group binding: homework and online classes.
- Rest day 09:00–21:00, points & quiz: answer first, play after.
- Enable the global “use 45 / rest 10” on the Time Management page: eye-care breaks apply to every slot.
