“The PC locked by itself!” Six lock reasons, countdown reminders and auto shutdown
My child says the PC suddenly locked — what happened?
The top of the lock screen states the reason in plain words. Six common causes: outside allowed slots, minute quota exhausted, time points used up, periodic eye-care rest, temporary lock / temporary unlock ended, or clock tampering detected. All six below.
Six lock triggers
- Outside every allowed slot (no matching slot today — “not in plan”).
- The slot's minute quota is exhausted.
- Time points are exhausted (redeemed entertainment time used up).
- Periodic eye-care break (use N / rest M) — resumes automatically.
- A temporary lock issued by a parent, or the child's temporary unlock time is up.
- Clock tampering detected (NTP drift over 300 seconds when time sync is on).
What's on the lock screen
- Three top buttons: unlock to Setup mode (parent password), temporary unlock to Guardian mode (password + minutes), and redeem time points (hidden when the lock reason is “time limit reached” — redeeming after the limit is ineffective, so it is hidden to avoid wasting points; it shows normally for other lock reasons).
- The top message explains the lock reason; a temporary lock also shows the remaining mm:ss.
- Top-left info bar: version and time points balance (marked “in use” while being consumed); the traffic points balance is shown to the right of “remote management status” in the footer (moved there from the top-left in 2026-10).
- Today's plan lists only slots matching today's day type, with the day's description (e.g. “summer vacation”) appended to the title.
- The top-right Shutdown / Restart buttons are manual and independent of the auto shutdown after lock.
Three switches and how to set them
| Switch | Default | Recommended | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-lock/rest reminder (min) | 5 | 5–10 | Pops up in advance, second-precise and reason-specific (points used up / time limit reached / slot ended / temporary unlock ending), so the child can save progress |
| Pre-lock countdown | On, 30s (5–300s) | 30s | Covers slot end, quota/points exhaustion, eye-care rest and temporary lock |
| Countdown can be closed | Off | Keep off | When off, the child must watch the countdown, preventing last-second grabs |
| Auto shutdown after lock (+delay) | Off | As needed | Good for families who want the PC off at curfew; independent of the manual shutdown button |
How do I lock my child's PC remotely when I'm not home?
Open the web console and issue a temporary lock from the device card — effective on the next heartbeat (~10s); a temporary unlock works the same way. Full rules and how to cancel are in Temporary lock & unlock.
