What if my child sees inappropriate content? Content protection, levels and violation records
Keyword blocking only covers known URLs. Content protection adds another layer: it recognises five categories of content unsuitable for minors from the screen and window content. Recognition runs locally on the child's PC — frames are not uploaded for analysis — and resulting records are visible only to parents.
My child is viewing inappropriate content — what can I do?
Three steps: in Settings → Content protection tick Minor content protection and pick a level; enable Screenshots and App visit history if you want a record; bind WeChat notifications to hear about it immediately. Details below.
Setup steps
- 01
Open Content protection
Settings → Content protection (after entering Setup mode with the parent password).
- 02
Enable protection and pick a level
Tick Minor content protection and choose a level: Child (strict) / Teen (recommended) / Custom. Tick Close window on violation if you want automatic handling.
- 03
Configure screenshots and visit history
Tick Enable screenshots and set the interval in seconds and retention in days (defaults: 10 seconds, 7 days), then click Save settings. Tick Record app visits if you want to know which software was used.
- 04
Bind WeChat notifications (optional)
Scan the QR code on the right of the page or search for the 【AIVI】 WeChat official account, then open the membership center and bind. After binding you receive a phone alert when a violation occurs (same-type violations are merged within 10 minutes).
Which level should I pick? What are the five categories?
Child (strict) = all five categories at level 2; Teen (recommended) = all five at level 1; Custom = pick categories and level individually. Categories are read-only unless Custom is selected. The five categories are below.
| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Porn & vulgar | Nudity, suggestive or vulgar images and video |
| Violence & gore | Bloody fighting and injurious imagery |
| Gambling | Gambling, betting and lottery content |
| Tobacco, alcohol & drugs | Smoking, drinking and drug-related content |
| Dangerous behaviour | Self-harm, dangerous challenges and other harmful imitation |
What happens on a violation? Does it lock the PC?
- The first violation only warns (with a “report false positive” option for the child); only a repeat violation closes the window.
- Violations do not lock the PC — content protection and the lock screen are fully decoupled; time rules keep running.
- Evidence is kept: the frame is saved on the child's PC at C:\ProgramData\aivi\violations\<date>\<time>.jpg, and if bound to the cloud the parent receives a notification and can view it in the web console.
- To verify it works, click Test violation report: it creates one local test record and syncs it to the parent side when bound.
Where do parents view the records?
- Browse screenshots at the bottom: review captured frames by time.
- View app visit history: see which software was used over time.
- Browse violation records: only the detected violations — the most efficient view.
- The web console shows them too, and you can bind/unbind WeChat notifications in the membership center.
